Privacy notice

Local Plan Monitor is a free public information site. You can use all of it without giving us any personal details, and we do not use tracking cookies, analytics or advertising.

Last updated 23 October 2026.

Who we are

Local Plan Monitor (localplanmonitor.co.uk) is responsible for any personal data handled through this site. Contact details for privacy questions will be added to this page shortly.

What we collect when you use the site

  • No accounts, forms or sign-ups. Nothing on the public site asks for your name, email address or any other details.
  • No tracking cookies, analytics or advertising. The public pages set no cookies and do not store anything in your browser. We do not use Google Analytics or any similar tool, and we do not show adverts.
  • Server logs. Like every website, the server that hosts the site records basic technical details of each request: your IP address, the page or file requested, the date and time, and your browser type. Our hosting provider keeps these logs for a limited period to run the service, keep it secure and investigate faults. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.

Services that load content into your browser

To display pages, your browser fetches some files directly from other providers, which therefore receive your IP address and browser details:

Links to council and government documents take you to those organisations’ own websites, which have their own privacy notices.

Personal data in our planning records

The plan timetables, land supply figures and housing site records shown on the site come from documents and datasets that councils and the government publish. They describe plans and land, not people. When we read council site layers we deliberately do not collect names or contact details of landowners, agents or developers, even where the council’s own data contains them.

If you think a record on the site contains personal information about you, or is wrong, please contact us and we will review it promptly.

Lawful basis

Where the information above involves personal data (mainly IP addresses in server logs), we rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure, working public website. We keep only what is needed for that purpose.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for access to personal data we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected or erased, and to object to or restrict its use. To use these rights, contact us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Future email alerts

We plan to offer optional email alerts for chosen authorities. Before that service starts, this notice will be updated to explain what is collected, which email provider is used and how to unsubscribe. Nothing will be sent to you unless you sign up.

Changes to this notice

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top.
